Trumpet of Patriots has announced Maarten Kornaat as the party’s candidate for the Western Australian seat of Durack in the upcoming Federal Election. A career based in engineering and energy plus a deep commitment to freedom and practical leadership sees Maarten bring a fresh, no-nonsense approach to the people of Durack.
Born in the Netherlands, Maarten earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering before embarking on a global career in the oil and gas industry. Since making Australia his home in 1997, he has worked alongside people from diverse cultures and backgrounds. Frustrated by political decisions that ignore common sense and disadvantage everyday Australians, Maarten joined the Trumpet of Patriots to restore integrity, opportunity and national pride.
Durack is Australia’s largest electorate, spanning nearly 1.4 million square kilometres with key centres like Geraldton, Broome, Karratha and Port Hedland. Despite its vast resources, Durack faces persistent challenges: housing affordability and homelessness are major concerns for over 72% of residents; access to healthcare and childcare is limited, particularly in remote areas; and early childhood development lags behind the national average. Add in policies that overlook regional needs and put strain on local services and it is easy to see why the people of Durack need leadership and change – quickly
Mr Kornaat is committed to addressing these challenges head-on. He advocates Trumpet of Patriot policies that prioritise regional development, improve access to essential services and support families and communities. By focusing on practical solutions and cutting through bureaucracy, he plans to deliver the opportunities and support Durack’s residents need to thrive.
Under the Trumpet of Patriots, Maarten Kornaat stands for strong borders, economic and freedom. He believes in empowering Australians through practical, results-driven leadership that puts the needs of the people first.
Trumpet of Patriots is fielding candidates in all upper and lower house seats in the 2025 Federal Election.
