Born in Malaysia, Vic immigrated to Australia in the early 1980s. He completed his schooling and earned a law degree from Bond University in 2003, progressing into professional roles at the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) and Special Counsel at Minter Ellison Lawyers. Further in-house legal positions saw Vic deliver his expertise in capital raisings, mining law, ASX listings and mineral resource development for mining companies including Lihir Gold, Macarthur Coal and Peabody Energy.

The Division of Moncrieff is centred around Surfers Paradise and the central Gold Coast, renowned for its tourism-driven economy and diverse community. Composed of suburbs including Broadbeach, Mermaid Beach and Southport, historically Moncrieff has been a stronghold of conservative values, with the Liberal Party holding the seat since its creation in 1984.

Residents of Moncrieff face a shortage of affordable housing for young families, escalating living costs, financial hardship, mental health concerns, alcohol and drug misuse and affordable access to health care. These issues contribute to a sense of national fragmentation and a decline in Australia’s prominence on the global stage, raising concerns about long-term sustainability and an uncertain future for all Australians.

“Mahatma Gandhi once said, ‘be the change you want to see in the world’ and that’s what I plan on doing for the residents of Moncreiff and fellow Australians.”

“We must focus on strong borders, strong initiatives that lead to economic growth, freedom and ensuring Australians have the opportunities and security they deserve. My resolve to Make Australia Great Again comes from understanding what true freedom means,” he said, adding that “It’s time for leadership that puts Australians first and delivers real results.”
